House sales fall 46 per cent in July-Sept on lower demand amid Covid-19

India’s top seven cities witnessed 46 per cent drop in sales of residential properties during the July-September quarter at 29,520 units, amid muted demand due to Covid-19 pandemic, according to property consultant Anarock. Housing sales in July-September 2019, stood at 55,080 units across Delhi-NCR, Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune. MUMBAI: Twenty-five years after a man partly paid for a flat at Airoli, the national consumer commission ordered a builder to refund Rs 5 lakh along with an interest of Rs 14.5 lakh to him. The forum ruled that interest should be attracted from the time the amount was paid and not when the consumer complaint was filed. While the national commission accepted the builder's version that the flat price was around Rs 12.7 lakh and the buyer did not pay the remaining amount, making him ineligible for possession, it said he was still entitled to a refund of the part-payment.
